NEW HORIZONS

Further to our mid-week news item last week, we are slowly getting things back up and running here, while at the same time trying to get to grips with some new software. If you spot any strange formatting, missing pictures or general oddities, please feel free to drop me a line ( editor at elrose dot demon dot co dot uk) - I will endeavour to get things sorted out as quickly as possible.

I have now recovered most of the website, as it was, into a usable form, although I have not yet been able to complete work on the Tour Dates pages - hopefully these be ready in time to be included as part of next weekends regular site update.

Once we get the baiscs running again I think the time might be right for a bit of a site overhaul, but one thing at a time.

Thanks for bearing with us through what has been a difficult few weeks for us here in the office - I won't tempt fate, but lets hope for some smoother sailing from here to the years end!

AMON DUUL II

Experimental music pioneers Amon Duul 2, whose music defined the German progressive rock scene of the 1970's, are back in the news with the reissuing of the band's back catalog on SPV Records - this includes many titles that have long been out of print.

Titles in the series include 'Dance Of The Lemmings', 'Yeti', 'Carnival In Babylon', 'Wolf City', 'Vive Le Trance', 'Hi-Jack', 'Live In London', 'Made In Germany', and 'PyragonyX'.

As a point of special interest to Amon Duul 2 fans in the USA, the band's landmark concept album 'Made In Gemany', touted as the first German Rock Opera, is now made available in its original complete form (the DBL LP was only released in the US as a single album with different cover art).

"All the important works of Amon Duul 2 are remastered and wherever there was spare room on the CDs, we added bonus tracks recorded in 2005, 2006 and 2007", says guitarist and original band member John Weinzierl.

To co-incide with the releases the band are preparing for a major tour scheduled for Autumn 2008 and Spring 2009, with the running title '40 Years since 1968/69'. Other plans include "a DVD called 'Amon Duul 2 History' and a new studio CD by the band.

These new releases, along with rare solo CDs by Weinzierl's trio JHM and an album he recorded with the late Robert Calvert of Hawkwind will be available on the band's official website: www.AmonDuul.de

For more information on the Amon Duul 2 CD re-issues by SPV records you can also check out www.SPV.de

POWER QUEST

Intromental Management have confirmed that they have signed up British/Italian/American power metal band Power Quest to their growing roster of acts.

Intromental had the following comment on the deal:

We've known about this band for a long time and always liked them. However, the timing to sign them wasn't right, but when keyboardist Steve Williams contacted us a couple of months ago and asked for cooperation, we immediately decided to give it a shot and start working together with these talented guys.

The comment from Steve Williams himself was similartly upbeat:

Power Quest are really proud to announce our liason with Intromental and we are very excited about our future co-operation with Claus, Lars, Glenn and the rest of the Intromental team. From seeing the work they have done in the past and also the work they are currently doing with the likes of Circle II Circle and Almah, we feel that this is a huge, positive step forward for the band.

NEW HORIZONS - Important Update

Well, it seems New Horizons has been having more than it's fair share of mishaps of late, the most recent being the complete failure of the main PC which contained all the web site design pages, all the site e-mail and much more besides which has prevented our last few scheduled site updates.

Having replaced the offending machine with something hopefully a bit more robust, I am now trying to get things back into shape, and while I thought I had a pretty good backup policy, I am now finding all the things I should have taken more care with but obviously did not.

One prime example is the loss of all the site e-mail, which included the serial number needed to re-install our site design software! This is inconvenient to say the least as not only have I had to buy a new version of the software, I am also having to get to grips with all the ways it differs from the old version which I had been using for several years now!

Ah, well! These things will happen, and at least I have learned some valuable lessons in the process.

With all this in mind, I hope you will be patient while I try to get things back on the straight and level. The plan is to try and get the regular news update posted this coming weekend with a view to some more extensive updates in the coming weeks.

I really am sorry about all this, but I feel confident that our many regular readers will understand the situation.

Finally if you have sent an e-mail to us in the last few weeks and did not get a reply, please contact us again now. As I say I am not in a position to recover my e-mail file in the immediate future but am able to respond to any new mail that is sent in to us.

All the best - Simon (editor)
